A Bible Based Church

The Bible is central to our convictions here at Hope Presbyterian Church. We believe that the Bible is the Word of God, spoken to people for their understanding of Him and for their understanding of what He demands of them.

Believing this is for us no mere academic exercise.

  • The Bible is the book which communicates to us the gospel of God's grace, by which we are set free from our sin and guilt.
  • It is the Bible which assures us of God's providence, by which Christians can be certain of His care over them moment by moment.
  • And, the Bible gives instruction, clear and comprehensive, concerning our moral duty regarding every area of life, from the worship of God to the running of businesses to the strengthening of marriages.

Content of Our Beliefs

Because we take the Bible seriously, our beliefs are based upon it. Consequently, we are committed to what some might call a ‘big-God’ theology. We believe that God is King over all his creation, and is both fully powerful, and completely wise. We are ‘Reformed’ in our beliefs, which means we stand in that great heritage of historic Christian doctrines including the trinity, the inerrancy of Scripture, the deity of Jesus Christ, and the salvation of sinners solely by the gracious acts of God – apart from any work or merit of our own. (A brief, devotional description of this can be found here.)
